What is a Sensor?
Sensors attach to your environment monitors and provide insights into your data center environmental conditions. The sensors come in many different forms, like temperature and combined temperature / humidity, water, air flow as well as more exotic sensors for measuring the level of fuel in a fuel storage tank. The sensors attach to an environment monitor and the monitor logs the sensor data periodically as well as alarming if your thresholds are not being met.
Typically each sensor is designed to work only with the environment monitor of that manufacturer.

What is a temperature sensor?
Temperature Sensors attach to your environment monitors and provide real time insights into your server room temperature conditions. The sensors come in many different forms, some are able to measure very high temperatures, some very low temperatures and others are designed for use outdoors. The sensors attach to an environment monitor and the monitor logs the sensor data periodically as well as alarming if your thresholds are not being met.

Digital Temperature Sensor
Monitor temperature with AVTECH’s Digital Temperature Sensor. This digital temperature sensor provides real-time temperature values from -67 to 257 degrees Fahrenheit and/or -55 to 125 degrees Celsius when used with any Room Alert environment monitoring device.
AVTECH offers this sensor with cable lengths of 25′, 50′ and 100′.
Digital Temperature & Humidity Sensor
Monitor temperature, humidity, heat index (feels like temperature), and dew point with AVTECH’s Digital Temperature & Humidity Sensor. This sensor provides real-time temperature values from -40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit and/or -40 to 85 degrees Celsius when used with any Room Alert environment monitoring device. Temperature accuracy is within + / – 2 C degrees. The humidity range is from 5% to 95% relative humidity (RH) non-condensing. Humidity accuracy is within +/- 4.5% RH at 5 to 59% RH and within +/- 6.5% RH at 60 to 95% RH.
AVTECH offers this sensor with cable lengths of 25′, 50′ and 100′.
Digital Active Power w/Temperature Sensor
Monitor temperature and active power status with AVTECH’s Digital Active Power w/Temperature Sensor. This patented, award winning sensor provides the real-time power status of any electric device by simply strapping it to any AC electrical cord. There is no need to unplug the device, modify the cord, or require an electrician to connect within a main panel, making it easier than ever to monitor any electric device. If the connected device draws more than 100W, the Active Power Sensor will detect this and show the current power status as ‘Active’. Additionally, this sensor provides real-time temperature values from -40° to 185° Fahrenheit and/or -40° to 85° Celsius. Accuracy is within + / – 2 C degrees.
Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor
Monitor extreme temperature ranges with AVTECH’s Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor. This digital temperature sensor provides real-time temperature values from -328° to 932° Fahrenheit and/or -200° to 500° Celsius when used with a Room Alert environment monitor. This sensor is perfect for situations where temperatures may reach extreme ranges, such as cold storage, laboratories, or specific manufacturing environments.
The sensor tip is contained in a 1/8” stainless steel tube with 40” stainless steel lead wires. The Digital Extreme Temperature Sensor is designed to have the sensor tip installed directly into the location or equipment that needs monitoring for optimal monitoring. The steel lead wires have an optimal range of 32° to 212° Fahrenheit and/or 0° to 100° Celsius.
This is a dynamic sensor that feeds temperature data back to the Room Alert monitor for data logging, alerting and automatic corrective action. This is an instant ‘Plug & Play’ sensor via one of the standard RJ-11 jacks on any compatible Room Alert monitor.
Power
AVTECH’s Power Sensor provides real-time recognition of a power source going off or coming on at the outlet it is connected to. Common use is to monitor the power supply of a main, 3 phase, UPS or backup generator source.
Users will often install multiple Power Sensors so they can be immediately informed when one source fails and then immediately informed that the back up supply has taken over. Because AVTECH products allow notification when alert conditions are resolved, users will know immediately when conditions return to normal.
This is a switch sensor that comes complete with its own AVTECH 5V International Power Adapter that plugs directly into the power source being monitored. The power adapter size is very small and allows for use on any outlet, power bar, rack or UPS. This is an instant ‘Plug & Play’ sensor via one of the switch sensor channels on the back of any compatible Room Alert monitor. Cable distance can be extended from the standard 25′ to approximately 900′ by using standard speaker wire, twisted pair or any reliable low voltage 2-wire cable.
Current Loop
AVTECH’s Current Loop 1 Sensor (50A) monitors the electrical current flowing through a single-phase powered cable. It outputs a signal of 0 to 5 VDC (volts of direct current), which your built-in or external Room Alert Analog Sensor Port then converts into an amp (A) reading. By pairing a Current Loop with your Room Alert monitor, you can easily determine the power consumption of an electrical appliance or device at your facility. The Current Loop can be easily moved to various appliances as needed and will help you monitor power consumption to determine if a power drop might be causing a problem or if an appliance is drawing too much power. The cost of electricity is one of the fastest growing costs and concerns for IT managers so knowing that a problem exists is the first step in resolving the problem.
Flood Sensor w/Cable
AVTECH’s Flood Sensor with attached 8′ sensor cable is activated by liquid (i.e. water, fluid, etc.) making contact with the attached Flood Sensor Cable of any length. Once liquid is detected the Flood Sensor triggers an alarm condition allowing the Room Alert hardware, Room Alert Manager software and/or other monitoring application to send out alerts and/or take automatic corrective action.
This is an instant ‘Plug & Play’ sensor via one of the switch sensor channels on the back of any compatible Room Alert monitor. Cable distance can be extended from the standard 25′ to approximately 900′ by using standard speaker wire, twisted pair or any reliable low voltage 2-wire cable in order to place Flood Sensor and attached sensor cable away from Room Alert unit, on a different floor, above a drop ceiling or under a raised flood.
Flood Sensor (Spot)
AVTECH’s Flood Sensor (Spot) provides real-time recognition of flood or water and includes specially designed electronics that allow it to interface with Room Alert products as a switch sensor. The flood detector is powered by a 9v Alkaline battery (included), this model triggers an alert if the sensor is activated.
